October 2014 Goodebox Review

My October 2014 Goodebox arrived the other day, here’s what was inside:

THE BOX:

SubBoxesSept14-2 002

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

SubBoxesSept14-2 003

Unik Anti-Aging Day Cream and Night Cream – 0.34 oz each – $18 $12 each (according to card) = $36 $24 Thanks Melissa!

These appear to be from a European company – and the full price is around $50 USD.  Only problem, I can’t seem to find a size for the full size product.

CV Skinlabs Restorative Skin Balm – 0.25 oz – $13

This product is supposed to be good for lips, cuticles, eczema, cuts, scrapes, etc.  I have a few of these type products laying around – I always forget to use them though.  Guess I’m just a regular lotion type person.

SubBoxesSept14-2 005

Vapour Mesmerize Eye Shimmer – travel size – $1

I really dislike these little Vapour samples.  I’ve received a few of them, and the product is so tiny, you can’t really even get a good use out of it.  This will honestly probably just get thrown away.

Jillian Wright Skincare Gentle Peptide Cleanser – 0.5 oz (?) – ~$4.75

This is the second Jillian Wright sample I’ve received this month – the company must be new or pushing out their products!  Oh well, I’ll take facial cleanser!

Earthwise Beauty Pumpkin & Papaya Seed Organic Face Scrub & Mask – 0.25 oz (?) – ~$4

Everything’s made with pumpkin this time of year!  Ha!  Anyway, I will use this as a scrub instead of mask, but it’ll get used!

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my October 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $58 $46 worth of product (some total guesses on pricing though).  Even though this box had a higher value, I was still underwhelmed with the products.  This was my last Goodebox (cancelled last month, but I guess this box had already shipped).  I am just more interested in baby/pregnancy type products these days 🙂

September 2014 Goodebox Review

Here’s what was in my September 2014 Goodebox:

THE BOX:

SubBoxesSept14 002

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

SubBoxesSept14 003

Barre3 Wristband, Barre3 Challenge Field Guide, and Month of Free Online Access to Barre3 – $15 (online access) + $3 Bracelet + $2 Book (?) = ~$20

I won’t be using this, but a neat idea I guess.

SubBoxesSept14 004

Simply Coconut Head-to-Toe Cleansing Bar – travel size – $2

I don’t use bar soap a lot – seems like they always dry out my skin regardless of how “awesome” they are supposed to be…

Jacobsen Salt Pure Flake Sea Salt – slide tin – $2.95

This is just weird to me.. I guess I don’t take my salt with me when I go places…

SubBoxesSept14 005

Plant Life Arnica Relief Gel – 1 oz? – $4?

I actually am kind of excited about this item!

SquareHue Nail Polish in Rambla de Raval – Full Size – $5

This item was actually quite odd to me – Square Hue is another monthly subscription box… not sure why Goodebox was “subscribing” for them?  Nevertheless, this is actually a fun fall color! and I don’t mind the consistency.  Still not going to subscribe to a nail polish subscription though!

SubBoxesSept14 006

The All Natural Face Matte Cream Blush in Dusky Rose – 3g – $1

I’m not very good at cream blush, but don’t mind this color so will give it a shot!

Welda Skin Food – 3 foil packs 1.5 ml each – 4.5 ml total – $1.16

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my September 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $21 ($36 if you count the online access) worth of product.  This box was completely underwhelming for me and I actually cancelled after receiving.  In all fairness I have been contemplating cancelling this for awhile just due to the amount of samples I have floating around, but just haven’t been loving the boxes recently either.  I just got a shipping notification for October, so I must have already paid for that box, which means I’ll be getting on more – hopefully it’ll be a win for me!

August 2014 Goodebox Review

Here’s what was in my August 2014 Goodebox:

THE BOX:

SubBoxesAug14 010

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

SubBoxesAug14 011

Alima Pure Natural Definition Eye Pencil in Coffee – FULL SIZE (0.04 oz) – $18

I really wish this pencil would have came in a black color instead of brown (coffee), but otherwise I’m always up for trying new natural eyeliner brands!

Kahina Night Cream – 3 ml(?)– $6.30(?)

I’m not very good at putting on “night” type creams, but I know this brand has amazing reviews, so will have to give it a shot!

Mun No. 1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum – 1 ml – $4.75

I’m not big on oils either, but Husband actually really likes using them.  I’ll see if he wants to use this or I will likely swap.

SubBoxesAug14 012

Juice Beauty Reflecting Gloss in Fig – Full Size (0.14 oz) – $15

I am not a huge lip gloss person – so will likely end up swapping this.

BeautyCounter Translucent Color Lip Sheer in Plum – Full Size (0.12 oz) – $28

Not a huge lip stick person either – this will also go in the swap pile.

Province Apothecary Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator – 5 ml (?) – $2

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my August 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $74 worth of product!  This box was probably one of the best values, but I have to say again, I wasn’t that over the moon about it.  Perhaps because so many of the products are ones that I just won’t use.  I was thinking of canceling, but didn’t get around to it before they shipped the September box, so I guess I will be giving this one more month.  Will see how it goes after that!

July 2014 Goodebox Review

Here’s what was in my July 2014 Goodebox:

THE BOX:

July boxes 021

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

July boxes 022

Balanced Guru No Frizz Balancing Oil – 0.5 oz – $13

I’m not a big hair oil type person, which is funny since I do have semi frizzy/wavy hair… I’ve gotten some samples in the past and they just never really impressed me that much.  I will likely end up swapping this item.

Lauren Brooke Finishing Powder – 4.5 g – $12.75

Now this I will use!  I’m currently using a bare minerals veil for finishing powder, but can’t wait to give this item a try!

July boxes 024

LA Fresh Nail Polish Remover Pads – 3 count – $1.65

It still surprises me that LA Fresh is an eco brand!  I don’t know why… maybe because I’ve heard of them for quite a while and just never associated them with being eco?

Pure Natural Diva Body and Hand Wash – 1 oz – $3.33

Pure Natural Diva Organic Sugar Scrub -1  oz – $5

Pure Natural Diva Body and Room Spray – 1 oz – $5

I’m glad they wrapped these products well, as the sugar scrub leaked a little.  Not enough that it appears like any product is missing, but can definitely tell there’s been a leak.  Overall, excited to try a new (to me) product line!

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my July 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $40 worth of product!  Although I like this subscription box, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with samples recently.  I haven’t made up my mind if I’m going to cancel yet or not, but I have to admit I’m on the fence.  Maybe I’ll give it another month and see if August’s box wows me!

June 2014 Goodebox Review

My June 2014 Goodebox arrived in the mail today!  Here’s what was inside:

THE BOX:

GoodeboxJune14 004

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

GoodeboxJune14 005

Blum Daily Cleansing & Makeup Remover Towelettes – 10 ct – $3.49

Oh hilarious – I am currently using the Blum sensitive skin makeup remover wipes and I love them!  These are individually wrapped – so they will work great for traveling!

Beauty Without Cruelty Sweet Lavender Lotion – 2 oz – $1.62

I will never complain about getting lotion – especially when it’s of the natural variety!

GoodeboxJune14 006

Goodness Garden Organics Natural Sunscreen SPF 30 – 1 oz – $3.33

Ah!  Sunscreen is the second item I can never get enough of! 🙂

Neuth Creme pour Visage – 20 ml? – $15

Totally guessing on the size of this – the jar appears to be slightly larger then the 15 ml variety though – so I’m guessing 20 ml!  I put some on my face after cleaning and appears to be working without a problem (i.e., sensitivity).  We’ll see how it is in the morning!

Primal Pit Paste Natural Deodorant in Lavender – 0.25 oz – $1.12

This is hilarious item number two in this box – I’m currently using the unscented primal pit paste stick (http://primal-pit-paste.mybigcommerce.com/primal-pit-paste-stick-1/) and LOVE this!  It’s the only natural deodorant I’ve found that seems to work without the “funk” at the end of the day!  I’m not so certain I like the lavender scent of this (must prefer the unscented variation), but nevertheless love the product!  The best part???  I now have a 20% off coupon to use to stock up on the variation I love!!!!!!!!

Waxelene The Petroleum Jelly Alternative – 0.75 oz – $5

Hm – not really sure what I’ll use this for, but appears to be good for removing make-up (probably not), re-hydrating chapped hands (there we go!), cracked heels (yep!), hair split ends post sun exposure (huh?!), after shaving (maybe?), getting rings off (ha!) and etc!  Will likely go in the “lotion” pile.  I can just see using on my dry cracked heels mid summer (chacos like to beat up my feet!)

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my May 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $30 worth of product!  Not as high of a value as last month, but wow, talk about a box that I feel was made for me!  How funny that two of the products included are ones that I’m currently using and loving!  And love the coupon code that I now have to stock up on one of these products! 🙂

May 2014 Goodebox Review

My first Goodebox arrived in the mail today!  Here’s what was inside:

THE BOX:

may14goode 001

THE PRICE:

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

THE GOODS:

may14goode 005

Evenly Radiant Brightening by Dermae Cleanser– 0.12 oz of cleanser ($0.31), 0.12 oz night cream ($1.68), and 0.06 oz of eye cream ($3.35) – $5.34 for each pack * 3 = $16.02

I received this same sample in my Eco Emi January 2014 box.  I wish they would have just sent one of these and put some of the value of the box in other products.  I ended up swapping the item previously – and will probably do so again.

may14goode 006

Shea Radiance Maximum Curl Defining Cream – 2 oz – $4

I am stoked to try this!! Super WIN!

Orglamix Eye Shadow in Mint – FULL SIZE – $9

This color is quite gorgeous online – I can’t wait to try it!  I’ve been on a kick with mineral eyeshadows recently, so this is right up my alley!

may14goode 007

Tatcha Petal Fresh Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers – 30 sheets (FULL SIZE) – $12

These papers have amazing reviews; however, I”m not a huge blotting paper person (generally don’t have greasy skin), so will probably end up swapping these.

THE VERDICT:

I paid $18 for my May 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $41 worth of product!  While two of the items weren’t quite a fit, the other two were TOTALLY me!  I have to say I’m impressed with my first Goodebox and can’t wait to see what next month brings!
