December 2013 Conscious Box Review

I received my December 2013 Conscious Box in the mail yesterday, here’s what was inside:

BBandCBDec13 018

$19.95/month (with free shipping)

BBandCBDec13 020

Larabar Snickerdoodle Bar – 1 bar – $2.19

I wasn’t a big fan of this bar, but Husband said it was OK.

Two Degrees Chocolate Banana Bar – 1 bar – $2

We received one of these in the November 2013 Daily Dose of Green box – Husband liked it, so I think he’s OK with having another!

BBandCBDec13 021

Vitamin D3 Gummies – 1 gummy – $0.22

The gummy tasted OK, not something that I would buy off of one gummy though.

Mega Food Vegan Daily Dietary Supplement – 2 tablets – $1

We got this same sample in last month’s Conscious Box – disappointed that they would send the same thing again…

BBandCBDec13 022

Salamandra Naturals Tea Tree Peppermint Soap – sample size – 1 oz? – $1.25

I love the scent of this bar – will be adding this to the travel pile to take along the next time I’m out of town.

Grab Green Dishwashing Detergent – 2 tabs – $0.67

We received a sample of these in the Eco Emi Winter 2013 Bonus box – they seem to work good the last time we tried them, so glad to have received another sample!

BBandCBDec13 023

Numi Organics Beet Cabbage Black Tea – 1 bag – $0.67

This doesn’t even sound good… Not sure we’ll ever sample this even… hm…

The Persimmon Tree Tea Company Immortal Nectar – 1 oz? – $7?

Not sure on the actual value of this – had a hard time finding actual value online.  We don’t have a loose leave tea ball, so we’ll have to buy one before we sample this.

BBandCBDec13 024

Nubian Heritage Raw Shea Butter Body Wash – 15 mL – $0.50

Will add this to the body wash pile.

The Good Bean Roasted Chickpeas – 0.75 oz – $0.75

Another one to throw in the pile to try.

BBandCBDec13 025

Boiron Oscillococcinum – 3 tubes – $2.19

Meant to take when feeling flu-like symptoms.  I hope that I never have to sample these!  ha!

BumBoosa Bamboo Baby Wipes – 1 wipe – $0.10

Have no use for these…

Jersey Kids Organic Peppermint Lip Conditioner – Full Size – $4

This is the second peppermint lip balm I’ve received – will likely gift this item.

My estimated value is over $22 for my December 2013 Conscious Box.  This will be my last Conscious Box, as I just don’t feel the value is there based on the size of the samples (seems all like things you can find for free online).  It was OK for the first three months since I got a good deal, but I can’t imagine paying full price for this box.

November 2013 Conscious Box Review

Well here’s the review for my November 2013 Conscious Box.  There are so many samples that sample photos are from Conscious Box.

The Box:

$19.95/month (with free shipping)

MRM Relax-All or Digest-All

MRM Relax-All or Digest-All – 2 tablets – $0.33

This product is supposed to help aid in digestion – might have to give it a try the next time I’m craving a big plate of pasta!

Mighty Leaf Organic Teas

Mighty Leaf Organic Teas – 3 packages – $1.60

These are whole leaf tea packages and we don’t have a tea ball.  Guess we’ll have to get one to try these.  Typically I like making tea with the Keurig – much simpler (I know blasphemy from the Tea Gurus out there…)

YogaAnne Calm Essential Oil Blend

YogaAnne Calm Essential Oil Blend – 0.5 ml? – $1?

Smells pretty good – guess I’ll have to try to remember to use at work to see if it helps!

Mudd + Wyeth YaffBar

Mudd + Wyeth YaffBar – 1 bar – $3

So this bar is apparently good for both you AND your dog.  That sort of creeps me out.  Will probably give to the Husband to eat… LOL

DetoxRx Cell-U-Firm Body Gel

DetoxRx Cell-U-Firm Body Gel – 24 ml – $4

Hm – we’ll see if this does anything…

Mega Food Vegan Daily Dietary SupplementConBoxNov009

Mega Food Vegan Daily Dietary Supplement – 2 tablets – $1

I had to take a picture of the ingredients.  Yes, I would like some supplements with a side of boron and chromium please?  wtf.  I’ll pass.  Husband said he’d take them though…

Rebootizer Destress Detox

Rebootizer Destress Detox – 66 g – $6

Hm – will give this a shot I guess.

Swiss Villa Raw Milk Cow Cheese: Herbes de Provence

Swiss Villa Raw Milk Cow Cheese: Herbes de Provence – 1 oz? – $1? (can’t find product online – not sure why it was in a box if there’s no way for me to purchase…)

Note – must eat with crackers.  This cheese was STRONG!  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE cheese and was super happy to have a cheese sample in my box.. but whew!

Plum Organics Grammy Sammy

Plum Organics Grammy Sammy – 1 bar – $0.84

This one little tiny bar has 110 calories and 20 g of carbs.  Holy cats.  Guess that’s why it’s for kids.

Global Health Trax ThreeLac

Global Health Trax ThreeLac – 2 packs – $1.67

So – been thinking about trying probiotics to help with my digestive issues.  Will give these a shot.

Sunology Natural Sunscreen

Sunology Natural Sunscreen – 0.07 oz – $0.30

Hm – sunscreen in November.  Makes sense?  Hopefully I remember this sample sitting around somewhere come summer 6 months from now…

Postography – 2 free postcards – $2.50

Hm – will have to see if I can find a good use for these…

TeeChia Super Seeds Cereal Blueberry

TeeChia Super Seeds Cereal Blueberry – 1.76 oz – $1.70

Husband will probably try this too – I hate blueberry.

Smarty Pants Weight Management Complete

Smarty Pants Weight Management Complete – 6 gummies – $1

Hm – these seem like they are for kids, but they are for weight management.  I’m confused.

Maty's All Natural Kid's Cough Syrup

Maty’s All Natural Kid’s Cough Syrup – 0.34 fl oz. – $0.70

Don’t have kids, but will probably try this if (when) colds hit this year.

The Verdict:

My estimated value is over $26 for my November 2013 Conscious Box.  I still have some reservations on the true “value” of this box since most of the samples are so small.  I don’t know, still on the fence.  Don’t think I would have been too happy had I paid the full $20 price.  I have one more box paid for and will probably make up my mind then.

How was your November 2013 Conscious Box?

October 2013 Conscious Box Review

Well here’s the review for the box that started it all!  Again – this was received pre-camera, so photos are from Conscious Box.

Now granted – you’ll have to use your imagination a little, but I was slightly disappointed with the presentation of the Conscious Box.  No description card entailing what everything was, no prices for full size products, and everything was just sort of thrown in the box (granted it had the tissue paper and whatnot – just wasn’t feeling the love).  That being said everything was described online, I suppose that is the “green” thing to do… but not even a note?  Com’on.

The Cost:

$19.95/month (with free shipping)

The Goods:

Clean Ethics Bottle Bright Water Bottle Cleaner

Clean Ethics Bottle Bright Water Bottle Cleaner – 1 tablet – $1

This was the only thing out of my box that was actually available for purchase on the website.  Kind of annoying.  Overall – OK, tried it on a coffee mug, it cleaned off some.  Husband used his PBW from his homebrewing equipment and got a LOT better results (cleaned the coffee residual right out of his mug).  PBW is also natural (it says on the can anyway).  Granted, this probably would have worked on a water bottle – but why not give it the ultimate test?!

Eat Green Tea 100% Organic Green Tea

Eat Green Tea 100% Organic Green Tea – 1 package – $0.75

Honestly haven’t tried yet – weirds me out a little that you sprinkle it over your food… eventually I’ll get over that and try it.  Not too concerned about not getting my review in as they are only 10 points (equivalent to $0.10 for Conscious Box) each.  We’ll see…

Allimax 100% Allicin Capsules

Allimax 100% Allicin Capsules – 2 capsules – $2

Gave these to Husband, he said he couldn’t stand his own breath (garlic smell); we threw the other out.  Ew.

The Honest Company Honest Shampoo + Body Wash

The Honest Company Honest Shampoo + Body Wash – $0.25 (I’m guessing – can’t remember the sample size, full size is 8.5 fl oz for $9.95 though)

Husband tried this too -he said it was OK; nothing special.  Would probably be great for kids.

Gnu Foods Fiber Love Bar

Gnu Foods Fiber Love Bar – $2

Husband also tried this (I’m getting the short end of the stick I think?!  Ha!)  He said it was AMAZING!  Might be on the lookout for more of these in the future.

Lotus Moon Vitamin B Hydrating Gel Facial Moisturizer

Lotus Moon Vitamin B Hydrating Gel Facial Moisturizer – $2 (guessing on price, can’t remember size, full size is $27.97 for 1.7 oz.)

Have to say I wasn’t a fan of the “gel lotion” – meh.  I ended up putting my regular lotion (Boots Botanics) over it.

FruitsMax Whole Food Supplement

FruitsMax Whole Food Supplement – 5 tablets – $3

Husband took these – said they were OK; nothing outstanding.  We aren’t big supplement people though.

CrumCreek Soy Bites Mini-Breadsticks

Crum Creek Soy Bites Mini-Breadsticks – Everything Flavor – $0.50

This was my FIND of the box!  These things were AMAZING!  We dipped them in a little olive oil from Greece and OMG!  I immediately went online and took advantage of their 50% off offer and ordered a box (yes you heard me a box) of these guys!  Can’t WAIT until they show up!

Acure Organics Cleansing Gel

I actually got the Acure Cleansing Face Scrub – $1 (guessing on price, can’t remember size, full size is $15 for 4 oz.)

Let’s just say I should have steered away as soon as I saw how gritty it was.  I have sensitive skin, it didn’t go well.

Goddess Garden Organics Tangerine Lavender Daily Lotion

Goddess Garden Organics Tangerine Lavender Daily Lotion – $1 (guessing – full size is $18.99 for 8 oz.)

I was excited for this product, but holy cats I did not enjoy.  Put on after getting out of the shower, it went on like sunscreen, and it started to burn.  I went back into the shower to just try to rinse off (it didn’t rinse well – which I guess is good for sunscreen), my legs burned for a few hours after that.  Not impressed.

Seventh Generation Natural Skin Serum and Body Lotion

Seventh Generation Natural Skin Serum and Body Lotion – $1 (guessing)

I wanted to love this product, I really did.  I use a couple Seventh Generation products that are my go to.  But honestly, the smell of the serum was completely off putting.  I threw the rest of the sample away.

LifeTree Citrus Fresh Dish Soap

LifeTree Citrus Fresh Dish Soap – $0.25 (guessing – $5.50 for 16 fl oz.)

I actually really enjoyed this sample.  The product cleaned well (as you’d expect) but didn’t leave a sudsy residue that I sometimes find my Seventh Generation soap doing.  I think I found my new go to for dish soap!

Good Boy Organics Organicasaurus

Good Boy Organics Organicasaurus – $1

I liked these, Husband didn’t.  Would be good for kiddos.  The dinosaurs were actual quite large!

Biobag Biodegradable, Compostable Dog Waste Bags

Biobag Biodegradable, Compostable Dog Waste Bags – $0.13

The curious thing I find here – is that you aren’t supposed to compost dog waste – so why a compostable dog waste bag?  huh.  Haven’t used yet – but when we do, it’ll go in the regular trash.

My estimated value is $15.88 for my October 2013 Conscious Box.  If I had paid full price ($20) – I would not be a very happy camper, as I believe I only enjoyed a few of the products they sent.  We’ll see how the next two months go (I think I paid $35/3 months with my $10 Groupon discount); but if it doesn’t get better, I’ll be off to find a different box!

How was your October 2013 Conscious Box?
