Bluum October 2014 (2nd Trimester) Review

My first Bluum box arrived this past weekend, here’s what was inside:

SubBoxesOct14 003

Bluum sent me an email the day my package was delivered letting me know all the products that were inside and associated costs!

Bluum costs $29 per month, $75 for 3 months ($25/month), $138 for 6 months ($23/month)

Bluum offers both pregnancy and boxes for children up to 4 years old and is tailored to your child’s age/pregnancy stage.

Bluum also has a rewards program!  You can earn 10 points for every review, and also get points for subscription referrals (500 points).  500 points is equal to a free box!

Better Basics Striped Teething Tomato – $8

This toy is a little confusing to me, as it reminds me more of a dog toy then a baby toy!  I guess it’s made from organic cotton, so that’s good!  Who knows if the baby or dog will end up with it though! ha!  It’s in the baby toy box now, but I can totally see the dog stealing it!

Loralin Designs Baby Visitors Guest Book – $30

Ooo!! I really like this!! It has spaces inside for visitors, date, “how do I look”, and “wishes and wisdom”.  It also doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of pages, so I’m glad of that (won’t look too empty if only a few people fill out!)

Healthy Mama Boost it up! – 12 fl oz – $3.49

This is a pregnancy energy drink!  Basically made with a bunch of vitamins and none of the stuff you can’t have while pregnant!  I’m sure I’ll find a time before too long where I’ll “need” this for a pick me up!

Jellystone Designs Silicone Jewellery Organic Bangle – $15

I think this is a really cute idea; however, I’m not a huge jewelry person, so can’t really see myself using this.  Will likely pass onto a friend or swap.

I paid $29 for my Bluum box and received approximately $56 worth of product!  I love the variety of products too!  I’m super impressed with my first Bluum box and can’t wait to see what’s in next months box!!  Do you subscribe to Bluum?  What’d you get this month??

21 Bundles Month 6 (October 2014) Review

My Month 6 21 Bundles box arrived this past weekend, here’s what was inside:

OctPics 002

So last month I received a note that they would no longer be sending out the descriptions to be more “green”; however, I still received this months as well as an email this month!  Still missing the “Month X” sticker though…

OctPics 003

21 Bundles costs $39.99 per month, $109.99 for 3 months ($36.66/month), or $209.99 for 6 months ($35/month).

21 Bundles catch is they deliver hand selected natural products tailored to your stage of pregnancy and the first year of your baby’s life.  9 months pregnancy + 12 months = 21 bundles!

Use coupon code “sustainable15” for 15% off a new subscribers first bundle!  That’s right, my very own coupon code! 🙂  I hope you readers out there can use it!

OctPics 004

Earth Mama Angle Baby Organics Peaceful Mama Tea – 16 bags (FULL SIZE) – $6

This is the third box of tea that I have received in 21Bundles out of the 5 months I’ve received boxes (Month 2 through Month 6)… I like tea, but I’m a loose leaf tea fan and the more fruit the better!  I’ve used all of one tea bag out of the 3 boxes I’ve received.  I do wish they would mix up the products just a little more – No more tea please!

Acure Unscented Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes –30 towelettes (FULL SIZE) – $9

I gave these a try and really liked them!  I generally pick up the Blum Naturals Face Wipes at the store, but this product does seem comparable (a little more expensive).  Honestly, it’s probably a toss up between the two, will likely just depend on which ones are available/on sale!

OctPics 006

Erbaorganics Mommy-to-be Foot and Leg Refresher – 4 ml – $0.56

I received this same sample in a previous 21Bundles box (Month 3).  Definitely not a high value item in the box, but it would be nice to get a little more of a mix in products.  That, and a little larger size sample?  I always feel like you can’t quite get a good feel for products from foil packets.

Acure Body Lotion – 10 ml? – $0.50?

I also received this same sample in my Month 3.  Guess it’s a month of repeats!

100% Pure Creamy Nail Polish in Tomato – 0.5 fl oz (FULL SIZE) – $12

I have tried the 100% Pure product a couple times and always seemed impressed!  I managed to get this on a couple toes, and really liked the color and formula!  The only problem, at 6 months pregnant, it’s getting a little hard to paint my own toenails!  I wish this would have shown up a few months back when that task was a little easier!  I may just have to bring it with me when I get my next pedicure!  or maybe convince the Husband to paint them for me? ha!  That could be disastrous!

Reviva Labs Hypoallergenic Black Mascara – 0.25 oz (FULL SIZE) – $8

This mascara is a little “runny” for my taste – it may be because it is water based?? I usually use Physicians Formula 100% Natural Origin Mascara and will be continuing with that product.  Will still use this as I don’t like to waste product!

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Pink Caramel Lip Gloss – 0.24 oz (FULL SIZE) – $15

Arg.  I’m torn!  I have loved the 100% Pure products, but unfortunately, I am just not a lip gloss person!  I will likely end up swapping this as I would hate for it to go to waste!

I paid $40 for my 21 Bundles box and received approximately $51 worth of product!  A few of the products were “repeats” (either exactly or just more tea), which was a little disappointing, but other then that I loved the box and trying new products that are “green”!  I also really enjoy how each month has it’s own theme!  I can’t wait to see what the Month 7 theme is! 🙂

Citrus Lane Mystery Box Review

Citrus Lane was offering Mystery Boxes awhile back, and I decided to get one!  They don’t have a “pregnancy” box option, but lets just say I think I have every intention of signing up for this box as soon as the little one is born!

The Box:

SubBoxesOct14 010

The Cost:

The Citrus Lane Mystery Box cost me $29 plus $4.95 shipping, but I used a $5 coupon code, so I basically got free shipping!

The Goods:

SubBoxesOct14 011

The Mommy Hook – $6.99

I didn’t know such a product existed!  That being said, I have read to be very careful not to load too much weight on the back of the stroller for safety reasons, but I can see how clipping on a bag or two would be helpful!

Ah Goo Baby The Bib – $9.75

This bib appears quite large – so thinking it’s a use later kind of item.  That being said, it appears that it will do a good job of collecting baby goo!

SubBoxesOct14 013

First Play Wiggling Worm Grasping Toy – $7.99

Another item that won’t get used right away, but that’s fine!  The little one will have lots to play with as she grows!

Cloud-b Peekaboo Lovie – $9.95

This is pretty cute – it’s a little blanket with a toy thing that pops in and out (yeah OK I’m not the best at describing things…)

SubBoxesOct14 014

Dr Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment – 0.5 oz each x 2 – $3.66 total

I would like to say I hope I never have to use this, but I’m sure we will…

My First Green Toys Twist Teether – $10.99

I actually already have one of these (got in a swap!), but I will be gifting this to a friend that has a little one that could be using this soon! 🙂

Haba Klick Klack – $9.49

This is a pretty cute little toy too!  Perfect for baby’s small hands 🙂

The Verdict:

I paid ~$29 for my Citrus Lane Mystery Box and received approximately $59 worth of products for the Little One!  I can definitely see loving this box once baby is born, but for now it was fun to receive a box of items that I know she will enjoy some day soon 🙂 I do like that there are some non-toy products too! Obviously, no pregnancy items, as this box is geared for after baby is born.

21 Bundles Month 5 (September 2014) Review

My Month 5 21 Bundles box FINALLY arrived this past weekend, here’s what was inside:

SubBoxesOct14 001

As you may have noticed, my box shipment was delayed.  I contacted the company and was informed that they were out of one of the products, and instead of substituting the item, they decided to wait until the product came back in stock.  To compensate, they said that they upgraded one of my sample items to full size (not sure which one?)!  In addition, I received the following hand written note in my box!

SubBoxesOct14 003

I definitely felt like they appreciate my business!

**Side note though – I never did receive an email description of the box items, which is fine, I could figure it out.  But I do miss the little “Month X” sticker!!

SubBoxesOct14 005

Attitude Little Ones Laundry Detergent – 35.5 fl oz (FULL SIZE) – $16

This product is carcinogen free, fragrance-free, and hypoallergenic!  My regular laundry detergent is seventh generation, but I’m excited to see how well this works!  It’s supposed to work well for cloth diapers too, which we intend on using!

Dapple Naturally Clean Baby Laundry Stain Remover – 16.9 fl oz (FULL SIZE) – $4

Ah – I’m sure this product will get much use as well!  I like that it is free of all the nasties and appears to have pretty good ratings!  Also good for cloth diapers 🙂

SubBoxesOct14 006

e-cloth Washing Up Pad – 1 pad – $6.75

Ah – I can always use more scrub pads!  I always seem to go back to the “green scratchies” though, so excited to see how well this works!

LifeTree Dish Soap – 16 fl oz (FULL SIZE) – $6.50

Now this product I HAVE used before… and I LOVED it!  I just hadn’t gotten around to buying for 2 reasons, 1) hadn’t ran across it in the store and 2) I do have a lot of dish soaps under the sink already.  That being said, this one is going to the top of the pile! 🙂   PS – I think I’m probably one of the few people in the world that can get excited over dish soap – LOL!

SubBoxesOct14 007

Acure Peppermint Argan Oil Castile Soap – 16 oz (FULL SIZE) – $10

Alright – going to be honest, I have no idea what castile soap is.  This is probably around the time that a description sheet would be helpful!  I did find the following article that shows that this product has several different uses: 12 Great Ways to Use Castile Soap  but to be honest, still not sure what to use this for!  Maybe the Husband will know more.

Acure Dark Chocolate + Mint Argan Oil Lip Balm – 1 tube – $4

Ah – I will not be using this.  I am allergic to chocolate, but I’m sure others would love this!

Motherlove Pregnant Belly Salve – 3 ml – $0.50

I am not a fan of foil packets… it seems like there’s  never enough there to really see if you like a product or not.  Nevertheless, this WILL get used!  I’m on a “buttering the belly” twice a day regimen!

I paid $40 for my 21 Bundles box and received approximately $48 worth of product!  I do know that one of the items was full size that wasn’t supposed to be, but no clue which one!  I’m guessing without this upgrade, the box would have been a little over $40.  I love the curation of this box, but LOVED last months value more! haha!  That being said, I loved this months theme!  I seem to get overwhelmed with all of the beauty products, and love that this month focused on other aspects of “greening” up your life!  I can’t wait to see what Month 6 brings!

October 2014 Goodebox Review

My October 2014 Goodebox arrived the other day, here’s what was inside:

SubBoxesSept14-2 002

$18/month and you can sign up for either monthly or bi-monthly membership

SubBoxesSept14-2 003

Unik Anti-Aging Day Cream and Night Cream – 0.34 oz each – $18 $12 each (according to card) = $36 $24 Thanks Melissa!

These appear to be from a European company – and the full price is around $50 USD.  Only problem, I can’t seem to find a size for the full size product.

CV Skinlabs Restorative Skin Balm – 0.25 oz – $13

This product is supposed to be good for lips, cuticles, eczema, cuts, scrapes, etc.  I have a few of these type products laying around – I always forget to use them though.  Guess I’m just a regular lotion type person.

SubBoxesSept14-2 005

Vapour Mesmerize Eye Shimmer – travel size – $1

I really dislike these little Vapour samples.  I’ve received a few of them, and the product is so tiny, you can’t really even get a good use out of it.  This will honestly probably just get thrown away.

Jillian Wright Skincare Gentle Peptide Cleanser – 0.5 oz (?) – ~$4.75

This is the second Jillian Wright sample I’ve received this month – the company must be new or pushing out their products!  Oh well, I’ll take facial cleanser!

Earthwise Beauty Pumpkin & Papaya Seed Organic Face Scrub & Mask – 0.25 oz (?) – ~$4

Everything’s made with pumpkin this time of year!  Ha!  Anyway, I will use this as a scrub instead of mask, but it’ll get used!

I paid $18 for my October 2014 Goodebox and received approximately $58 $46 worth of product (some total guesses on pricing though).  Even though this box had a higher value, I was still underwhelmed with the products.  This was my last Goodebox (cancelled last month, but I guess this box had already shipped).  I am just more interested in baby/pregnancy type products these days 🙂

September/October 2014 Ecocentric Mom “Mom-to-Be” Review

My Ecocentric Mom “Mom-to-Be” box arrived this past week – here’s what was inside!

SubBoxesSept14-2 007

Ecocentric Mom costs $24 every-other month.  They offer a “Mom” box, a “Mom-to-Be” box, and a “Baby” box!  Right now I am subscribed for the “mom-to-be” but if I hold onto this subscription, I will switch to “baby” closer to the due date!

Their boxes ship in January, March, May, July, September & November.

 SubBoxesSept14-2 010

Arora Creations “Bhindi Masala” Spice Blend – 0.5 oz – $3.99

This product is a mix of turmeric, red pepper, ground coriander, ground cumin, salt and other seasonings.  I’m not quite sure if it sounds good or not to be honest!  But we do have lots of green beans from the garden this year, so will have to give it a try!

Bakery on Main Instant Oatmeal – 1.75 oz – $1

I’m not a huge oatmeal person, but I definitely enjoy it when it’s cold out or when I’m not feeling the best – and I have to say that this flavor “maple muffin” sounds pretty tasty!

Annie’s Organic Cheddar Snack Mix Bunnies – 1 oz – ~$0.60

I love Annie’s products and this snack mix is right up there as one of my favorites!  Consider this demolished!

SubBoxesSept14-2 012

Salon Solids Conditioner – 2 oz – $3

This product is pretty neat – it’s basically a bottle with granules in it and you add your own water to make the conditioner.  That being said, I’m not entirely certain why this is better then a premixed conditioner, except perhaps lower shipping costs?? Curious to see how well it works though!

Jillian Wright “Breakout Blocker” Serum – 3 ml – ~$7.75

Wow – this is a pretty expensive product!  That always scares me a little, because if I really like it, I still won’t buy it… Nevertheless, this item is supposed to help control bacteria.

7th Heaven Natural Skin Mask Moroccan Clay – 1 mask – $2.99

I seem to have received a lot of masks through subscription boxes, and I’m still not very good at using them.  This will get added to the pile and probably get used at some point!

SubBoxesSept14-2 014

The Organic Face “Femme Fatale” Eye Shadow Quad in Mesa – full size! – $25

Ah – the inevitable downfall with eye shadow quads – I love two of the colors, and will never use the other two!  Not sure if I will end up using this for that reason or swapping to someone that can hopefully utilize the entire product!

PureProC Silk Smoothing Gel and Hydrating Serum – 0.08 oz / 0.1 oz – $13+ $6 = $19

Again – another product that the full retail is just too high for me to ever really enjoy using this… I’m not huge on serum type products either – so will likely just end up swapping this.

WooBamboo Slim Handle Bamboo Toothbrush – $4.95

Well I’m glad that they sent a “slim” and “soft” bristle version.  I guess a toothbrush is a toothbrush?? I always end up buying the same one at the store, but perhaps I’ll try this to see how I like it!

SubBoxesSept14-2 015

Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin Book – $6.29

Ah – this book is MUCH better then the previous book I received from Ecocentric Mom!!  It’s actually pretty cute!

I paid $24 for my Ecocentric Mom “Mom-to-Be” box and received approximately $74 worth of product!  A few misses for me, but I LOVE the mix of different types of products (food, makeup, tools, etc.)!  I do wish there would have been more than one baby item, but overall pretty impressed!!
